A canola trial in Esperance, Western Australia, shows the benefits of using Basis to enhance nutrient availability from granular fertilisers.

In this trial, Basis* was applied onto MAP Trace fertiliser (80 kg) and compared to MAP Trace alone. The canola seeding date was 1st May 2018. In canola plants sampled on 10th July 2018, there was a significant increase in root mass where Basis-treated fertiliser had been applied.

Celebrating Success: Basis Technology Applied on Over One Million Hectares in Australia

What do more than one million Australian hectares have in common? Basis technology from Loveland Agri Products.

Since being introduced in 2014, fertiliser treated with Basis or Basis XC has been applied on over one million hectares in Australia, and this technology is becoming the standard in many cropping and intensive pasture districts across Australia. This is an outstanding success for a biologically derived nutrient-enhancing product, with growers coming back time and again for Basis XC on their fertiliser after seeing the benefits of improved nutrient use efficiency and enhanced crop performance.

Basis Fertiliser Biocatalyst a Key Part of WA Farmers' Best Season

In two recent Farm Weekly articles (part 1, part 2), farmers Andrea and Carl Moltoni describe their success using Basis on their Yathroo, WA farm.  The father and son point out the dividing line in their paddock caused by the shadow of taller canola where they applied Basis-treated granular fertiliser.

Carl notes that both their canola yield and oil content are higher than average this season, with seed also bigger. His father, Andrea, who has farmed for over 50 years, says that this is the best season he has ever seen.

Basis Pasture Trial: Increase in Dry Matter Production & Digestibility, More Beef

In Australia's high rainfall grazing areas, growers need to maximise efficiencies in beef and sheep production wherever possible.  In a replicated pasture trial completed in Goulburn, NSW, Landmark agronomist David Noble aimed to capture the benefits of Basis when applied to SSP (single superphosphate).  The trial included four different treatments:

  1. Nil fertiliser
  2. 100 kg/ha SSP
  3. 125 kg/ha SSP
  4. 100 kg/ha SSP + Basis

When the final calculations were tabulated, Basis delivered strong results by increasing the availability of nutrients from the applied fertiliser, which, in turn, improved dry matter production and pasture digestibility—both of which are key drivers of livestock production.

Improved Scepter Wheat Performance When Basis Added to Fertiliser Application

In this paddock trial in South Australia, adding Basis to the grower's granular fertiliser application improved the performance of Scepter wheat during the growing season. In early September when photos were taken (below), wheat in the untreated block had drooping flag leaves and showed signs of magnesium deficiency, while wheat plants in the Basis-treated blocks had more erect leaves and no signs of nutrient deficiency.

Foundation & Basis Increase Cotton Yields: Data from New South Wales

Recent trials from New South Wales show that adding a fertiliser biocatalyst to a cotton fertility program increases cotton yields and brings in exceptional return on investment (ROI) for a grower.

In a trial conducted in Rowena, the grower's standard fertility program was compared to the grower's standard with Foundation LM (applied at 5 L/Ha in the furrow at planting). Rows were planted in a solid configuration and the crop was fully irrigated. Despite little difference in development between the control and Foundation-treated crops throughout the season, the addition of Foundation increased yields by 0.64 bales per hectare (equivalent to a revenue increase of +$320/Ha) when the cotton was ginned.

Basis Shines in Wheat Trial: Early Results from Eudunda, SA

Early results from this starter fertiliser trial in Eudunda, South Australia, show a big visual difference in Mace wheat when Basis is added to the grower's standard fertiliser program.

The trial compared the grower's standard starter fertiliser (28:12:00 applied at 110 kg/Ha with flutriafol) with and without Basis (applied at 4 L/tonne on the granular fertiliser). These photos, taken in mid-June, show early improvements in wheat root and shoot growth with Basis.

If you're a grower who uses granular fertilisers, Basis is likely an excellent match for your farming operation.

Basis is a fertiliser biocatalyst that is specifically designed to enhance the efficiency of granular fertiliser applications and improve crop performance so that growers can realise outstanding return on their fertiliser investment.
